OF YOUNG WRITERS
WELCOME TO WRITE ON SPEAK OUT
A PLATFORM FOR THE VOICES OF YOUNG WRITERS
WRITE ON SPEAK OUT gives voice to young writers, and we are excited to share more Fresh Voices with you for 2026.
Fresh Voices Tamariki 2026 is here and features young writers aged 5-12 from Rēkohu/Wharekauri/ Chatham Islands and Ōtautahi, Christchurch.
Fresh Voices Rangatahi 2026 will be here soon and will feature young writers from across Te Waipounamu, the South Island.

FRESH VOICES ON WRITE ON SPEAK OUT
All young people have something to say. They just need the opportunity and the support to get their voices out into the world.
Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti ka ārahi i ā tātou mahi
Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work.
In our Fresh Voices Project, our tutors support the tamariki and rangatahi to develop a portfolio of writing that is meaningful to them, exploring their identity, experiences, thoughts and feelings. The young writers then select a piece to record and share on this site.
Thanks to funding support, we were able to reach out to schools beyond Ōtautahi (Christchurch) to find our Fresh Voices for 2026.
Thank you to the schools, community organisations, Plains Media, Rātā Foundation, Strengthening Communities Christchurch, COGS Chatham Islands and Creative Communities Christchurch and Chatham Islands for supporting this project.
Writing gives young people agency. Write On Speak Out provides them with a voice.
This project is curated by the team at Write On School for Young Writers.
We are a not-for-profit organisation based in Christchurch, New Zealand, offering tuition and mentorship to young writers anywhere in the world. We also publish Write On Magazine.
Please be in touch if you would like to support or be part of this project.
